Job Title: Safety Specialist

Location: Travelers Rest, SC

Industry: plastic injection molding manufacturing

Status of Hire: direct placement; permanent

Pay: $90k-$110k + 10% bonus

Hours: 1st shift (7am-3:30pm)

Summary: Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Specialist to champion health, safety, and environmental compliance at the plant level. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving workplace safety through the development of programs, risk assessments, training, and collaborative engagement across departments.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of OSHA regulations, ISO 14001 standards, and a passion for fostering a culture of safety. Working directly with plant leadership and employees, this position plays a critical role in incident prevention, compliance assurance, and continuous improvement..


Job Duties:

  • Lead and/or guide incident investigation including near misses to determine root cause and plan of action to avoid recurrence of the same type of event.
  • Oversee ISO 14001 Certification
  • Conduct job-based PPE assessments, Job Safety Risk Analysis & Ergonomic Risk Assessments, etc. to determine risk and develop a plan to mitigate the risk.
  • Develop safety training for all employees on required OSHA training.
  • Develop a chemical management program, complete and inventory of all currently in the facility, verify that all SDS are current and set up a process for approval to bringing chemicals on site.
  • Manage the hearing conservation program and first aid/CPR training.
  • Develop skills matrix for safety training to include time frames.
  • Report monthly safety data locally and to corporate
  • Works as an interface between departments to evaluate operations, provide technical guidance, assess training needs, and conducts training as required.
  • Provide safety/environmental communications (e.g. postings, bulletin boards, newsletters, employee meetings, etc.) including mandatory safety alerts for near miss and work related injuries.
  • Ensure all safety audits are completed each month
  • Conduct monthly safety meeting
  • Monitor and follow up with all At Risk Behavioral Audits


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 2-5 years' related experience within an industrial safety/EHS position required
  • High school diploma required, Bachelor's Degree in occupational safety or similar preferred
  • Must have experience with OSHA regulations and certifications
  • Must have experience with ISO 14001. Experience with ISO audits and certification process is strongly preferred
  • Must possess effective time management, project management, teamwork, communication, and problem solving skills

**Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and physical to be eligible for hire (physical will include respirator fitting)
