Organizational Unit Overview: The Department of Physical Therapy has strong administrative support, excellent teaching, research, and clinical facilities, and attracts top-quality students. Five well-equipped research labs are maintained by the department and existing PT faculty are in place to collaborate on projects including musculoskeletal modeling, postural control and sensorimotor processing, blood and muscle analysis, pediatric rehabilitation strategies, and more. The Departments 15 full-time faculty members all contribute to the fully accredited three-year Doctor of Physical Therapy program with 30 students admitted annually. Department faculty may also mentor PhD students enrolled in the Movement Sciences and Disorders concentration of the College of Allied Health Sciences Rehabilitation Sciences PhD degree program. Opportunities for clinical practice are available through the Department faculty clinic and the pro bono inter-professional Student Run Clinic.
Job Duties: The Department of Physical Therapy at East Carolina University is seeking candidates for a full-time, 12-month tenured position at the Associate or Full Professor level. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the Physical Therapy faculty and work to continuously improve the education of Doctor of Physical Therapy students and scholarship in the department. The Chair of the department reports directly to the Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences and will be asked to advance the colleges vision of state and national distinction in professional education, research, and service. The Chair is also responsible for meeting the requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
