Located at the iconic Islander 71 Marina on Isle of Palms, Islander 71 Fish House & Deck Bar is a locally loved, high-volume waterfront restaurant known for fresh seafood, exceptional service, and a vibrant coastal atmosphere. As Assistant General Manager, you will work closely with the General Managers to help lead daily operations, drive service excellence, support staff development, and maintain our high standards. You'll play a key role in creating a well-run, positive, and profitable business—both front and back of house—ensuring a seamless experience for our guests and team.
· Support the GMs in overseeing daily floor & event operations, ensuring smooth FOH/BOH communication and exceptional service
· Step in as the acting manager-on-duty when GMs are off-site
· Lead pre-shift meetings, coach staff in real-time, and provide ongoing support and accountability to servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff
· Address and resolve guest concerns with professionalism and care
· Monitor labor and sales metrics, adjusting staffing as needed for efficiency
· Assist in the execution of private events and large parties
· Help uphold cleanliness, safety, and sanitation protocols across all service areas
· Work closely with the GMs on hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives
· Support scheduling, performance feedback, and disciplinary documentation as needed
· Foster a positive team culture that aligns with Islander's values and guest-focused mindset
· 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or AGM role in a high-volume restaurant
· Strong leadership presence with a hands-on, lead-by-example style
· Calm under pressure with strong conflict resolution and communication skills
· Comfortable with POS systems, basic reporting, and team scheduling
· Availability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed
· A passion for hospitality, teamwork, and making people feel welcome
· Must be able to pass a background check and cannot have a criminal record
