Pay Grade: $64,584 - $80,730.00
FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the management, coordination, and direction of the daily operations in the Finance Division including, but not limited to, capital assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, receipts, and cash management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises and provides training to accounting technicians in their specified area of major responsibilities including, but not limited to, accounts payable, capital assets, and stormwater.
  2. Manages user access to multiple accounting websites.
  3. Maintains, manages, and organizes records.
  4. Prepares annual worker's compensation audit.
  5. Prepares general ledger account balance reconciliations.
  6. Ensures the timely billing and collection of stormwater fees.
  7. Ensures the timely deposit of all revenue in banks.
  8. Oversees the daily accounting activities of the Town such as cash receipts, disbursements, and cash management.
  9. Reviews, approves, and posts general journal entries.
  10. Reviews and approves credit card transactions.
  11. Reviews monthly sales tax submissions.
  12. Reviews unclaimed funds.
  13. Completes monthly and annual close process in accounting system.
  14. Assists and trains departments with accounting rules, coding, and software.
  15. Assists with managing bank balances.
  16. Assists with the annual accounting audit and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
  17. Recommends and assists with implementing improved processes and procedures.
  18. Performs other related assigned duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; and three years of related work experience, two of which should have been in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting.
Knowledge of office procedures, equipment, and software.
Skill in the use of analytics, problem solving, data processing, and communication.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, use of computers, and reading. This position requires substantial repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, grasp or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee consistently maintains balance either sitting, standing, or walking and is occasionally required to stoop or crouch. The employee may occasionally push, pull, or lift and move objects up to 10 pounds. Work effort principally involves sitting to perform work tasks with intermittent periods of walking and standing.

COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
The work requires the following mental abilities to perform critical tasks: use judgment, make decisions, interact with others, adapt to changes in jobs, verbal interactions, people skills - more than basic communication with others, and problem solving.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of offices, with occasional exposure to outside elements. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are generally not unpleasant.
