Job Title: Quality Auditor

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Department: Quality Inspection

Type of Position: Full-Time

Reports To: Asst Quality Manager or Supervisor

Reporting to This Position: n/a

JOB SUMMARY

Inspects materials and products for conformance to specifications using fixed or preset measuring instruments. Ensures materials and products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance and are not irregular or damaged. Requires an associate's degree with 0-3 years of experience in the field and/or equivalent experience. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
  • Knowledge of the existing and planned approaches and methods for manufacturing products or product components.
  • Knowledge of technologies and applications used in manufacturing products and in the optimization of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility.
  • Knowledge of day-to-day and strategic issues, operational requirements and management of a manufacturing facility
  • Ability to complete inspection folder for in-process materials, set up inspection, first and last piece inspection, and receiving material inspection.
  • Ability to assists in providing laboratories with an audit ready status and in non-routine analytical work needed to solve plant quality problems.
  • Ability to perform final audits and testing as well as investigate any customer concerns or complaints and participate in root cause investigations.


OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain continuous conformance to TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Participate in Gage R&R and MSA studies also perform Layered Process Audits (LPA's)
  • Ability to document quality test results using the appropriate databases or forms
  • Performs other duties as assigned
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and applicable inspection and test standards and documents.
  • Advanced level of computer skills in all applications
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • As of 1/1/2014 a minimum of ACT WorkKeys® Silver level is required
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • The ability to communicate at a high level, both receiving and disseminating information for clear understanding
  • Proficient in the use of various measurements and testing devices and equipment
  • Proficient computer skills in all applications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSNTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB
  • Occasionally remains in sitting position to perform duties at desk and on computer for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally must lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequently communicates with employees, customers and suppliers to understand their requests
  • Frequently sits/stands at a computer terminal
  • Frequently walks, kneels and stands on concrete floor
  • Must wear safety shoes with either composite, alloy, or steel toe
