Position Classification: (Part-time seasonal); Mon.-Fri. 1:30 pm-6:30 pm; $16 an hr.

The program director position is available at Six Mile Elementary School.

General Function:

Responsible for overseeing the delivery of all program areas within the Club. Plans, develops, and manages program implementation. Supervises program staff and performs other related administrative duties. Serves as a liaison between parents, schools, community groups, and Club members. Works in partnership with the Campus Director to ensure that a variety of pro-social and youth development opportunities are available to all Club members. Provides goal-setting support for all Club members. Program Director Floaters will be based at a specific site in their chosen region and will report there daily unless assigned to work at another site within their region as needed.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Youth Development or related field (or equivalent education and experience) and 2-3 years of program delivery experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of the Organization's philosophy, vision, and goals
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of youth aged 4 to 18
  • Management and supervisory experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of all local programs
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with youth

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement curriculum
  • Organize, direct, and implement programs across the five Core Program Areas of Boys & Girls Clubs of America
  • Provide individual and group instruction
  • Maintain discipline, mediate disputes, and enforce Club rules
  • Refer youth needing additional services to appropriate agencies
  • Manage and delegate responsibilities to program staff
  • Meet with volunteers and orient them to the Club environment
  • Ensure programs, services, and activities are aligned with organizational mission, policies, and procedures
  • Assist staff in guiding Club members in making appropriate program choices
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings
  • Gather input from staff, community members, parents, volunteers, and Club members for continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to handle multiple projects alongside daily activities. Must work well with diverse personalities, demonstrating tact, maturity, and flexibility. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, standing for up to four hours daily, and the ability to implement programs. Essential skills include speaking, writing, and computer proficiency.

Environment & Working Conditions:

Work primarily in after-school and recreational settings, both indoors and outdoors. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to support fundraising events and activities.
