Market Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management structure that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) sector is the largest, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients owning and operating highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridge structures. HDR offers professional services including bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services.
This role requires understanding of H&R clients, their funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures. The responsibilities are divided into:
The Director sets the vision for HDR's strategy to expand and serve clients in this sector, working with regional leadership to implement growth initiatives, develop staff, and meet financial goals. They coordinate strategies with various leadership and maintain communication with the Transportation Business Group (TBG) Market Strategy Director.
The role involves supporting area business development, client management, defining growth initiatives, and projecting HDR's brand in the marketplace. It also includes engaging employees, developing client relationships, and leading business development efforts, including overseeing strategic pursuits, industry association involvement, and forming strategic partnerships.
Staff development duties include managing P&L, driving technical excellence, recruiting, and participating in performance reviews. Support to operations involves monitoring performance indicators, facilitating work sharing, reviewing contracts, and promoting QA/QC programs.
