Role Summary

The EHS Leader will engage with the team to drive a proactive culture across the manufacturing facility. This leader will partner with the operations team to evolve Wabtec's EHS practices, understanding risks, addressing program compliance gaps, and driving metrics, program compliance, and lean principles. Responsibilities include tracking and communicating leading indicator scorecards, educating operations leaders, and driving program efforts to improve environmental, health, and safety standards. The role requires working on-site and on the shop floor.

Hours

Primarily day shift with some overlap or rotation between day and night shifts based on business needs.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Maintain compliance with all relevant EHS regulations and standards.
  2. Provide strategic and tactical leadership to meet EHS goals.
  3. Validate health, safety, and environmental frameworks for 100% compliance.
  4. Develop approaches for organizational changes throughout the site.
  5. Work with operations to address EHS concerns related to site operations, equipment, and new products.
  6. Manage administrative activities related to shop operations and interface with other functions.
  7. Maintain site EHS metrics and collaborate on projects like GHG reduction and sustainability.
  8. Foster continuous improvement through EHS KPIs.
  9. Ensure understanding and compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  10. Maintain air permit documentation and compliance systems.
  11. Prepare regulatory reports and update compliance training.
  12. Monitor regulatory changes impacting the facility.
  13. Implement environmental programs for the site.

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in health sciences, safety engineering, environmental engineering, or related field.
  2. Minimum 5+ years in a site leadership role at a manufacturing plant.
  3. Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations, including ISO certifications.
  4. Experience managing air permits.
  5. Familiarity with current EHS technologies and a willingness to adopt future innovations.
  6. Sound judgment and ability to handle tough issues tactfully.
  7. Strong leadership, change management, and financial skills.
  8. Ability to act as a change agent.
  9. Relocation may be offered if eligible.

Desired Characteristics

  1. Prior EHS leadership in manufacturing environments.
  2. Experience managing environmental permits and driving culture change.
  3. Knowledge of OSHA, RCRA, NPDES, and DOT regulations.
  4. Six Sigma or Lean/Quality training.
  5. Ability to lead process implementation and prioritize tasks.
  6. 5+ years as a Sr. EHS Leader at a plant.
