Normal Work Schedule: Working hours will be during the day, Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Remote work will also be considered due to the large geographical territory covered by this training program.

Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) is seeking an innovative, engaging, flexible full-time Training Director for the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training program housed at TCTC. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the Training Director will teach New Miner and Annual Refresher classes for both MSHA Part 46 and Part 48. Classes may either be open enrollment or company-specific contract training, and Training Director must be willing to teach in both in-person and online formats based on customer needs. Training Director must have strong public speaking skills and be able to work both independently and in a collaborative format with the MSHA Program Training Coordinator. Although training classes are generally held during daytime weekday hours, some travel will be required since the MSHA training program at TCTC is responsible for covering the entire state of South Carolina (SC) with occasional training in surrounding states for customers with additional locations besides their SC locations. Remote work will also be considered due to the large geographical territory covered by this training program.
This a state grant-funded position.
This is a full-time position and is non-exempt under the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act(FLSA). This position is a temporary, grant-funded position that is funded year to year. Temporary grant/time-limited employees are considered to be employed at will, whether or not the grant or project under which they are working has expired. This means that temporary grant/time-limited employees may be terminated at any time without cause, without grievance rights, and without any right to compensation beyond the date of termination. Temporary grant/time-limited employees may be eligible for the same benefits available to employees filling FTE positions with the exception of covered or probationary employment status. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, eligibility for health and dental insurance, all leave types, except Paid Parental Leave, and state retirement benefits, which are to be administered within established state guidelines. Temporary grant and time-limited employees are considered to be employed at will and are not covered by the state Employee Performance Management System (EPMS)/Faculty Performance Management System (FPMS) however, these employees will have their performance evaluated in keeping with policies and procedures governing the processes used for similarly situated employees filling FTE positions.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

Either already holds MSHA Instructor Surface (IS) certification or has 2 or more years of documented mining supervision experience on a PT46 or PT48 mining operation and is willing to study and obtain MSHA IS certification. Must be familiar with the MSHA Act of 1977, Miners Rights, and the Part 30 Code of Federal Regulation.
Preferred Qualifications

Already holds MSHA Instructor Surface (IS) certification and has at least 1 year of safety training experience.
