Position: Full-Time, Staff Principal Electrical Engineer

Location: Greenville SC, Charlotte NC, or Remote

Role Overview

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead electrical engineering efforts within EPC projects, overseeing development of electrical deliverables, design criteria, specifications, proposals, scope, budget, and schedule. Operating with minimal oversight, you will manage project execution, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and integrate electrical solutions into project workflows. Responsibilities include technical leadership, design optimization, regulatory compliance, and team mentorship, supporting the Electrical Department Manager as needed.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Lead electrical design activities across multiple EPC projects, ensuring compliance with standards and project criteria while optimizing for constructability and efficiency.
  2. Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications for quality and compliance.
  3. Collaborate with project teams, including project managers, procurement, vendors, and construction personnel, to integrate electrical solutions seamlessly into project execution.
  4. Supervise engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
  5. Assist in departmental operations, resource management, and strategic planning, including work plans, staffing, and scheduling.

Required Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of industrial and power plant electrical design practices, including medium and low voltage systems, power generation, distribution, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, relaying, and heat tracing.
  • Experience in project execution practices and full EPC project lifecycle.
  • Ability to oversee large-scale electrical design projects, ensuring compliance, budget, and timelines.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microstation, and electrical modeling software like SKM and ETAP.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to resolve engineering challenges proactively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 12+ years of detailed engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Ability to pass background screening.

Salary range: $136,400 - $204,600, depending on experience and location.
