Job Title: Lawyer - Litigation - South

Join HCB Solicitors Limited as a full-time solicitor / CILEX in our Litigation team, based in Bedford, Northampton, or Leicester. The ideal candidate will have experience in contentious probate litigation and a good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules, SRA policies, and relevant codes of practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Manage a caseload appropriate for a full-time fee earner.
2. Conduct pre-claim investigations, legal research, and initial case assessments.
3. Advise clients on contentious matters.
4. Draft pleadings, statements of case, and pre-issue documentation; file with the court as appropriate.
5. Perform administrative duties such as meeting deadlines, organizing case files, and managing documentation.
6. Attend court or conferences with or without counsel as required.
7. Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, and briefs.
8. Gather relevant information from various sources.
9. Liaise with internal and external third parties.
10. Assist with larger claims undertaken by other fee earners.
11. Supervise junior colleagues.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least five years of experience in a similar role (desirable but not essential).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
• Discretion handling sensitive matters.
• Good organizational skills with a methodical approach.
• Self-motivation and proactivity.
• Commitment to delivering excellent service to clients and colleagues.
