Position Overview

As a Campus Store Manager, you will lead all aspects of store operations, inspiring teams to achieve sales growth and operational excellence through engaging customer service.

You will foster a mentorship environment, focus on financial metrics and store performance, and support a Regional Manager in managing store and campus relationships.

Responsibilities

Driving Results/Sales: Implement operating plans and daily store activities, including:

  • Lead sales promotions, events, book signings, merchandise displays, store layout, and advertising.
  • Oversee in-store course materials activities in collaboration with course materials leadership.
  • Partner with Regional Manager to monitor financials and adjust strategies to meet sales targets, including managing shrink budgets.
  • Approve markups, markdowns, and write-offs per company policies.
  • Ensure asset security, associate and customer safety, and policy compliance.

Campus Relationships: Engage with the campus community by:

  • Facilitating campus and community events.
  • Managing daily operational communication.
  • Participating in Strategic Partnership Reviews.
  • Driving campus outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Participating in Bookstore Advisory Committees.

Talent Management: Oversee full-cycle talent management by:

  • Developing cross-functional teams capable of executing initiatives and maintaining standards.
  • Managing performance and fostering accountability.
  • Recruiting, training, coaching, and developing team members.

Customer Service: Cultivate an engaging customer service environment focused on solutions-based selling and exceptional experiences, including:

  • Building relationships with customers, faculty, staff, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Handling inquiries and escalated complaints.
  • Maintaining store cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Overseeing café or convenience store operations, ensuring health and food safety compliance.

Other duties as assigned to support store operations. Follett Higher Education is a drug-free workplace environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of retail management or customer service experience.
  • General computer skills.
  • Academic retail experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Financial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Relationship-building skills, influencing ability, and customer outreach experience.
  • Travel: minimal—less than 10%.
