Water Resources Designer - Greenville, SC

The Water Resources Designer (EIT) will primarily support Project Engineers in the hydrological and hydraulic aspects of transportation infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, analysis, and management of drainage systems while ensuring compliance with local, State DOT, and DHEC regulations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Engineers to design drainage systems for highway and bridge construction projects.
- Conduct engineering calculations and develop hydrologic and hydraulic models.
- Prepare designs in accordance with state stormwater management plan requirements.
- Participate in field investigations, with occasional travel within the Southeast region.
Qualifications - Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulics.
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritizing client satisfaction.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A valid Driver's License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a pre-employment screening.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US.

Education and Experience Requirements - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
- Entry Level to 4 years of experience in water resources engineering.
- EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Familiarity with software such as MicroStation, GEOPAK, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-20, FHWA Hydraulics Toolbox, HY8, etc., is advantageous.
Physical and Environmental DemandsThis position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
When performing field work, the role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 30-50 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough site inspections. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally, working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic conditions or traversing wetlands and wooded areas.
Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position, operating within regular office hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility for occasional night and weekend work based on project demands is expected. This position involves 10-20% field work with 80-90% design engineering.
TravelTravel will primarily be to job sites within the Greenville, SC area, with occasional trips to other ICE projects in the Southeast region. Fieldwork and site visits may be required.
