GCG is currently seeking an Inventory Control Specialist for our Wellford, South Carolina facility. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for implementing control measures to ensure the accuracy of inventory data in our 80,000 square foot distribution center. Utilizing your analytical skills and inventory management expertise, you'll conduct audits, investigate discrepancies, and drive continuous improvement in our inventory management processes. This position offers the opportunity to work independently and interact with multiple departments across the organization including purchasing and operations management. As the role evolves, youll also get the opportunity to travel to other locations as we expand our inventory management best practices to our other facilities.

What youll do

  • Monitor and manage inventory movement and transactions in our facility to meet company goals and customer demands
  • Ensure adherence to Cycle Count process and performance per Company KPIs
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
  • Implement inventory control procedures and best practices
  • Audit put-away processes to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for timely inventory replenishment
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
  • Prepare and present inventory reports to management
  • Investigate and drive root cause correction of inventory discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and inventory management regulations
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline inventory processes
  • Train and support staff on inventory control procedures and systems
  • Drive systemic improvement of inventory transactions, both physical and in ERP systems
  • Conduct audits of warehouse locations and processes
  • Assist with physical inventories, including occasional weekend work
  • Travel to other locations (up to 50%) for inventory-related tasks as needed

What youll bring

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic functions like sorting, filtering, and data manipulation
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff
  • Strong investigative mindset and willingness to speak up when necessary
  • Physical ability to perform warehouse tasks and conduct inventory counts
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends for physical inventory events
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% (primarily for future projects)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • 3-5 years of warehouse experience, particularly in an inventor management capacity
  • Experience in inventory control, supply chain, or related fields is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated history of professional growth and stability in previous roles
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements in warehouse operations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
