We re currently searching for an experienced Materials Buyer to join our dynamic Procurement team. Position overview


Responsible for the purchasing of materials required for efficient scheduling in support of the manufacturing organization. This role will also establish and strategically use vendor relationships, purchasing history, and other factors to secure the best outcomes that align with business goals.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure inventory and product availability is met.
  • Place orders with suppliers in line with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to ensure that manufacturing schedules and finished goods inventory objectives are met.
  • Partner with Production and Warehouse Management to ensure accuracy of inventory.
  • Work with multiple departments and cross functional teams on projects for new product development, and accessories.
  • Identify raw materials and purchased parts required to support operations.
  • Research and compare supplier bids to identify opportunities for total cost reduction.
  • Negotiate with vendors as required.
  • Vendor set-up and maintenance.
  • Prepare purchase orders and expedite as needed.
  • Maintain data within ERP system for vendors, materials and purchased parts, delivery dates and lead times.
  • Assist Quality and Supply Chain Departments in resolving supplier quality issues.
  • Support Accounting with management of standard costs for raw materials and purchased parts.
  • Facilitate implementation of improvement ideas for purchasing of materials / products and control inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 3+ years work experience in Supply Chain with an emphasis on procurement and inventory control.
  • APICS preferred.
  • Knowledge of price negotiation techniques.
  • Must be independently motivated and able to work without detailed direction.
  • Competent utilizing ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to communicate with individuals throughout all levels of the organization and vendors alike.
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and objective.
  • Strong organization skills with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and ensure that work is accomplished in the time frame required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).
